A 22-year-old man, Isuru Rathnayake, from Ulapane, tragically died in a road accident on the Nawalapitiya-Gampola main road today. The incident occurred around 2:30 PM between the first and second railway gates in Nawalapitiya. Rathnayake, who was on his motorcycle en route to a Korean language class, reportedly skidded after attempting to overtake parked vehicles and applying brakes upon encountering an oncoming tipper truck. Initial police investigations suggest the motorcyclist was traveling at high speed. The tipper truck driver has been arrested by Nawalapitiya Police, who are conducting further inquiries into the fatal collision and a post-mortem examination.
