Yala National Park's Blocks 1 & 2 Temporarily Closed Due to Drought and Heat

Blocks 1 and 2 of the Yala National Park will be temporarily closed to the public from September 14 to October 15. The closure is attributed to prevailing drought conditions and high temperatures, which are causing heat stress for animals and affecting water availability. The Department of Wildlife Conservation stated this measure is necessary to ensure the survival of wildlife and protect the ecosystem. The decision also considers the difficulties faced by wildlife officers and the impact of increased safari jeep activity under these conditions. Other blocks of the Yala National Park will remain open for visitors.
