Physiotherapist Death Case: Married Suspect Boyfriend and Wife Arrested; New Details Emerge

Following the open verdict on the death of the physiotherapist, police have made significant arrests. The suspect boyfriend and his wife have been apprehended in Jaffna. Investigations reveal the suspect is married, contrary to previous assumptions. He is 38 years old, with his actual residence identified as Narammala, Kurunegala. Further details indicate he has a history of financial fraud against women, with multiple complaints and pending court cases. He reportedly used deceptive tactics, including a fake wig, to lure victims.

The deceased has been identified as Shamya Darshani. Police revealed the suspect and victim were in a relationship for about eight months. Following the post-mortem examination, body parts have been sent to the Government Analyst for further examination, and the deceased's body has been handed over to her relatives. The boyfriend allegedly transported her body in the vehicle, abandoned it near the Teldeniya Hospital, and fled the area.

New details reveal the deceased physiotherapist had accumulated over Rs. 150 million in debt, causing her severe mental stress. Police are seeking the boyfriend, identified as a software engineer from Gannoruwa, while also investigating the possibility of suicide due to the financial burden, though no concrete evidence has been found to confirm this. The post-mortem examination was conducted on June 18th.
