The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has announced significant water supply disruptions affecting parts of Galle and Kalutara districts today, June 10th. Residents in the Galle Municipal Council area will experience a 14-hour water cut from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM due to essential maintenance at the Wakwella Water Treatment Plant. Simultaneously, several areas within the Kalutara District, including Kalutara, Wadduwa, Matugama, Beruwala, Aluthgama, and Payagala, will face a 10-hour interruption from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM. This is attributed to a scheduled electricity supply disruption affecting the Kethhena Water Treatment Plant.

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has announced the completion of urgent maintenance work on the main water transmission pipeline from Kalatuwawa–Maharagama. Restoration of water supply is underway, with full restoration expected by tonight (June 26, 2026) for areas including Homagama, Nugegoda, and Maharagama. The maintenance, which caused a 24-hour water cut from June 24, 8:00 p.m. to June 25, 8:00 p.m., has concluded. However, some areas may still experience low water pressure or temporary disruptions as the system refills.
