A delegation of monks from the 'Walk for Peace' initiative commenced a sacred journey to Sri Lanka on April 15, 2026. Led by Phra Ponchai Khamyeam, the group departed from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport in Texas, USA. Their mission is to propagate messages of peace, compassion, and spiritual unity, aligning with the teachings of the Buddha. Organizers expressed hope that the monks' presence in Sri Lanka will inspire goodwill, strengthen community bonds, and foster inner peace among all.

A second group of monks participating in the "Walk for Peace" pilgrimage has arrived in Sri Lanka from Dallas–Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport, Texas, United States. The delegation, led by Most Venerable Pannakara Thero, was received at Bandaranaike International Airport by Venerable Melpitiye Wimalakitti Thero, Minister of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, and Presidential Secretary Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, among others. The "Walk for Peace" pilgrimage is scheduled to take place from April 21 to 28, 2026, under full state patronage, and will feature a procession carrying a Bodhi sapling obtained from the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura.
