Visual Arts University Reopens After Dengue Closure and Clean-up

The University of Visual and Performing Arts (UVPA) in Colombo will reopen on July 13th after a two-week closure necessitated by a dengue outbreak. The decision follows a comprehensive dengue eradication program conducted on July 12th, which included cleaning, fumigation, and inspection of the university premises for mosquito breeding sites, as part of the 'Clean Sri Lanka' initiative. This reopening occurs as the nation grapples with a significant dengue surge, having recorded over 67,000 cases and 47 fatalities this year. Authorities are reportedly intensifying enforcement against individuals found to be maintaining mosquito breeding grounds.
