Veteran Artist Daya Nellampitiya Passes Away at 91

Veteran Sri Lankan artist, renowned 'Virindu' vocalist, and dance instructor Daya Nellampitiya has passed away at the age of 91. She died peacefully at her residence in Kalubowila, according to family sources. Nellampitiya was celebrated for her extensive career, serving as a dance teacher at numerous leading schools and dedicating herself to preserving and passing on the Kandyan dance tradition to thousands. She was also the wife of veteran 'Virindu' artist Sena Fonseka and is remembered as the foundational teacher for many contemporary veteran artists. Funeral arrangements are scheduled for the 16th.
