US Navy Littoral Combat Ship USS Canberra Arrives and Departs Colombo

The U.S. Navy's Independence-variant Littoral Combat Ship USS Canberra (LCS 30) arrived at the Port of Colombo on June 12. This marks the fourth U.S. Navy littoral combat ship to visit the port, following the USS Tulsa, USS Charleston, and USS Santa Barbara. The vessel, under the command of Cmdr. James McLaughlin, is making a brief stop to take on fuel and supplies. The U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka highlighted that the visit underscores the importance of continued maritime engagement for security, cooperation, and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
