Train services between Peradeniya and Colombo Fort are set to resume next month, according to the Ministry of Transport. The disruption was caused by damage to the Up Country Railway line, including 97 locations between Maradana and Kandy, following Cyclone Ditwah. Restoration work on the affected sections, particularly from Rambukkana to Peradeniya, has reached its final stages. Despite some delays due to post-cyclone flooding, Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways Dr. Prasanna Gunasekara confirmed that the majority of repairs are complete, paving the way for services to recommence, potentially from the first week of October.
