UNP Questions President's Congratulatory Message to Tamil Nadu CM, Cites Diplomatic Protocol

The United National Party (UNP) has questioned President Anura Kumara Dissanayake's decision to personally congratulate C. Joseph Vijay on his election as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The party expressed surprise, stating that traditional diplomatic protocol dictates such congratulatory messages from a head of state should be reserved for other heads of state, not provincial or regional leaders. The UNP further queried why similar congratulatory messages were not extended to the newly elected Chief Ministers of West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari, or Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma.
