Underworld Figure 'Konda Ranji' Arrested Upon Deportation from Dubai

Underworld figure Ranjith Kumara, alias “Konda Ranji,” has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) upon his deportation from Dubai to Sri Lanka today (September 9). Kumara was initially apprehended in Dubai on January 9 while allegedly attempting to flee to Italy; his wife and children were briefly detained but later released. He is reportedly a wanted suspect in connection with the murder of the coordinating secretary to former Minister Mangala Samaraweera and is also alleged to be involved in organised criminal activities and drug trafficking. Sri Lankan authorities had taken steps to secure his return, and further investigations into his alleged criminal involvement are underway.
