Underworld Figure 'Bus Lalith' Extradited from Dubai to Sri Lanka

Underworld figure Lalith Kannangara, widely known as 'Bus Lalith', was extradited from Dubai and returned to Sri Lanka on February 25th. His arrest in Dubai last October was the result of a joint operation between Sri Lankan authorities, including the Central Criminal Investigation Bureau (CCIB), and Dubai Police. Kannangara is accused of being a prominent underworld leader involved in organized crime, drug trafficking, and extortion, allegedly directing activities from abroad. He faces charges including murder and causing public fear in areas such as Hanwella, Homagama, and Avissawella. A special police and intelligence team facilitated his return to face legal proceedings.
