UN Concludes Emergency Response to Devastating Cyclone Ditwah

The United Nations and its humanitarian partners have officially concluded the Humanitarian Priorities Plan (HPP), marking the end of the emergency response to Cyclone Ditwah. The devastating cyclone, which struck in December 2025, caused widespread flooding and landslides across all 25 districts, affecting over 2.2 million people. A ceremony in Colombo on June 11th marked the conclusion, attended by officials including Commissioner General of Essential Services Prabath Chandrakeerthi and UN Resident Coordinator Marc-André Franche. The UN noted the successful implementation of the relief program, though Sri Lanka faces a continued long road to recovery.
