A firewood lorry plunged approximately 100 feet down a tea estate embankment on the Hatton-Nuwara Eliya main road at Glasgow Estate around 3:30 PM. The driver and assistant sustained serious injuries and were initially admitted to Lindula Hospital before being transferred to the Nuwara Eliya District General Hospital. Investigations suggest the accident was caused by a technical fault, specifically brake failure. One report indicated the lorry broke into two pieces following the fall.
