Two Major Drug Busts Uncovered at BIA in Separate Incidents

Airport Customs and Police Narcotics Bureau officers have made two separate, substantial drug seizures at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA). In one incident, a 34-year-old businessman was arrested with nearly 4 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine ('Ice') valued at approximately Rs. 80 million, concealed within biscuit and chocolate boxes. This suspect had reportedly arrived from Oman. In a separate bust, a 44-year-old businessman arriving from Bangkok was apprehended with approximately 668 grams of 'Kush' cannabis, estimated to be worth around Rs. 6.68 million. Both individuals were arrested while attempting to exit the airport.
