Two Killed, Six Injured in Matara Defender-Lorry Collision

A head-on collision between a defender vehicle and a cement-laden lorry in Wellamadama, Matara on the afternoon of July 19 has resulted in two fatalities. The accident occurred when the vehicles collided while travelling in opposite directions, also leaving six people injured. The deceased have been identified as Dinesh Udayanga (37), the defender's driver, and S.M.V. Subhash (36). Hospital sources indicate that two of the injured are in critical condition. Police reported that seven people were travelling in the defender at the time of the crash.
