Two separate bus accidents were reported across Sri Lanka on consecutive days. On November 11th, a head-on collision occurred near the 170 Mile Post in Unathuwewa, Lunugamwehera, involving two buses travelling on the expressway. Approximately 15 individuals sustained injuries and were admitted to local hospitals. Reports indicate the buses involved were travelling from Colombo to Ampara and from Badulla to Matara. Separately, on November 13th, a collision took place on the Colombo-Kataragama main road near Polgahamulla, involving a private school bus and a Langa bus.

The bus collision reported on June 15, 2026, in the Kandy area has been updated with more comprehensive details. The incident, involving a school van and a private bus on the Kandy–Jaffna A9 road in Kalugala, Katugastota, resulted in 17 schoolchildren injured, along with the drivers of both vehicles. Previously, eight children were reported injured in an incident on the Kandy-Matale road in Ambatenna. The injured students and drivers have been admitted to Katugastota Divisional Hospital and Kandy National Hospital.

A second bus collision has been reported, occurring on June 15, 2026, on the Kandy-Matale road in Ambatenna. A school van carrying approximately 20 children collided head-on with a private passenger bus. Eight children were injured in this incident and have been admitted to Katugastota Hospital. Their conditions are not reported as serious.

A head-on collision between two private buses on the Wellawaya-Hambantota main road in Lunugamvehera on June 12, 2026, resulted in 15 people injured. The incident involved a bus traveling from Badulla to Matara and another luxury bus en route from Colombo to Ampara, which was crossing the expressway. The driver of one bus was among the injured, with several cases reported as serious. The injured were admitted to Thinmalwila, Hambantota, Tissamaharama, and Lunugamvehera hospitals.
