The incident occurred around 4:35 p.m. when Train No. 1164, scheduled for Rambukkana, derailed while attempting to enter a platform. Two wheels of one carriage reportedly came off the tracks, blocking operations on two platforms and leading to delays for several services. This marks the second derailment for the same train in a similar manner, with a previous incident reported on July 7. Railway authorities have commenced efforts to restore the train and clear the affected tracks.
