Sri Lanka has recently recorded multiple tragic drowning incidents involving young people. In Mawanella, a 15-year-old boy drowned while bathing in the Ma Oya river with another child. Separately, in Kosgama, two youths aged 16 and 17 lost their lives after drowning in a canal in Thawalagodawatte, with one incident reportedly occurring on the victim's birthday. Another 16-year-old student also drowned while bathing with friends in the Katuwila Wewa in Sevanagala. Police in all affected areas are conducting further investigations into these unfortunate events.
