Three Suspects Apprehended in Separate Incidents Involving Elephant Tusks

In two separate operations, law enforcement agencies have apprehended three suspects each in connection with the illegal possession of elephant tusks. In the North Central Province, police arrested three individuals in Medawachchiya with a pair of tusks reportedly valued at nearly LKR 20 million, using undercover officers to intercept them as they arrived in a three-wheeler. Meanwhile, in the Uva Province, police apprehended three other suspects in the Hali-Ela area with two elephant tusks, seizing their car as well. The suspects in the Hali-Ela incident were aged between 21 and 31.
