Mastermind Arrested in Thalawathugoda Robbery; Reported Stolen Amounts Vary Wildly

A travel agency located in Thalawathugoda was the scene of a significant robbery yesterday afternoon, with suspects escaping with a substantial haul of cash and gold jewellery. Preliminary police investigations reveal that four individuals arrived at the premises in a car and reportedly used sharp weapons to carry out the heist. The stolen items are estimated to include around Rs. 65 million in cash and a quantity of gold jewellery, with one report specifying 29 sovereigns. The suspects allegedly assaulted an employee before fleeing in the same vehicle. The Thalangama Police have initiated an investigation and are examining CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
