Thailand Ends Visa-Free Entry for Sri Lankans From September 15, 2026

Thailand will abolish its visa-exemption scheme for Sri Lankan passport holders, requiring them to obtain a visa before travelling to the country. This significant change, announced by the Thai government, will take effect from September 15, 2026. Under the revised regulations, all Sri Lankan travellers must now apply for a visa online via Thailand’s official e-Visa system, as in-person applications will no longer be accepted. The decision follows a review approved by the Thai Cabinet in May and was published in the Royal Gazette on August 31.
