Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has resigned from his post following his defeat in the Kolathur Assembly constituency during the recent elections. Stalin lost to V.S. Babu of the TVK party, making him the fourth sitting Chief Minister in Tamil Nadu's history to lose an Assembly election. He had represented the Kolathur seat continuously since 2011. Stalin submitted his resignation letter to Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar on Monday, May 4, 2026.
