A suspect arrested by Welikada Police has been remanded in connection with the robbery of a taxi driver who operated through a ride-hailing application. The individual allegedly hired the vehicle under the guise of a paid trip, then strangled the driver's neck and stole Rs. 38,500 in cash. The suspect was produced before Colombo Additional Magistrate Nuwan Kaushalya and remanded until June 9. Police informed the court that investigations are ongoing, and two other suspects linked to the incident are currently at large.
