Dikoya Double Murder Suspect Re-arrested After Hospital Escape

Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the double murder of an elderly couple in Dikoya Town, Hatton. The victims, an 82-year-old man and his wife, were reportedly killed with a sharp weapon inside their shop, and gold jewelry valued at 18 sovereigns was stolen. The suspect was apprehended this evening (23) while hiding in a house within a tea estate in the Bogawantalawa police area, based on received information. Stolen gold jewelry was recovered by police from the suspect's possession. Preliminary investigations indicate the suspect, originally from Badulla, was married and residing in the Dikoya area.
