Two individuals presented as sureties for Kapila Chandrasena, former CEO of SriLankan Airlines, have been remanded until January 13th. Chandrasena was granted bail in a case related to allegations of accepting a bribe during the purchase of Airbus aircraft for the national carrier. The two men, identified as Mohamed Rizwan and Mohamed Irshan from Sanchi Arachchiwatte, were arrested by the Keselwatta Police and produced before the Colombo Additional Magistrate's Court. Sources indicate they were allegedly paid Rs. 15,000 each to stand surety for Chandrasena's Rs. 100 million bail bond and claimed no prior acquaintance with him. The court ordered their detention pending further inquiry.
