Supreme Court Confirms Death Sentences for Four in Vidya Murder Case

The Supreme Court has confirmed the death sentences for four individuals, including the notorious ‘Swiss Kumar’, in the 2015 abduction, gang rape, and murder of schoolgirl Sivaloganathan Vidya in Jaffna. A five-member judge bench, presided over by Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena, delivered the verdict today (06). The court dismissed the appeals filed by the four accused seeking their acquittal. In a related decision, the court also ordered the acquittal of two other accused in the high-profile case.
