STF Arrests Five Suspects in Mattakkuliya Kidnapping and Murder Case

Further investigations into the Mattakkuliya kidnapping and murder case have revealed that the five suspects arrested by the STF were apprehended with Ice (methamphetamine) drug. The arrests, which took place on April 25, occurred in Pamunugama, Peliyagoda, and Wellampitiya areas. Crucially, police have identified that the murder was orchestrated by overseas-based organized criminals and drug traffickers known as 'Palani Rimoshan' and 'Kotahena Aravin', providing a significant lead into the motive behind the crime.

New details have emerged regarding the Mattakkuliya kidnapping and murder case. The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Shrikanthan Baaththikkumar, a resident of Du Mandal Road, Colombo 14. Police have also recovered a luxury car believed to have been used in the abduction. Further details indicate the victim was strangled with a cloth strip before being drowned in the Kelani River near the Delgahawatta Junction in Mattakkuliya. The five suspects arrested by the STF have been handed over to the Mattakkuliya Police Station for further investigation, and the motive for the murder is still under investigation.
