A discussion concerning state patronage for the upcoming “Walk for Peace Programme in Sri Lanka” was held yesterday, February 2, at the Presidential Secretariat. The meeting was chaired by Venerable Dr. Melpitiye Wimalakitthi Thero and attended by Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake. This seven-day pilgrimage, inspired by a 110-day peace walk across 10 US states, is scheduled to commence on April 21, 2026. It will involve twelve monks led by Most Venerable Paññakāra Thero, aiming to promote peace and lovingkindness across the island, guided by Buddhist teachings.
