Sri Pada Pilgrimage Season Concludes on Vesak Poya; Sacred Relics to be Processed

Following the conclusion of the Sri Pada pilgrimage season at midnight on May 30th, the Sacred Relic Casket, Statue of God Saman, and divine insignia have commenced their ceremonial procession towards the Pelmadulla Galpoththawela Sri Pada Rajamaha Viharaya. The procession commenced early on May 31st via the Ratnapura Palabaddala route. Further processions are scheduled, including one to the Nallathanniya Buddhist Centre, from where routes will extend via Hatton, Kithulgala, Avissawella, and Ratnapura. Another procession will travel via the Bhagawanthalawa Balangoda route, forming multiple legs of the overall journey.

The Sri Pada pilgrimage season officially concluded at midnight on May 30th. Following Vesak Poya religious observances at the Sri Pada Uda Maluwa, the Sacred Relic Casket, Statue of God Saman, and divine insignia have commenced their ceremonial procession along four routes towards the Pelmadulla Galpoththawela Sri Pada Rajamaha Viharaya. The procession via the Ratnapura route began early on May 31st.
