Sri Lanka's National Consumer Price Index Rises to 2.4% in March

The Department of Census and Statistics has reported that Sri Lanka's overall inflation, as measured by the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI), increased to 2.4% in March 2026. This marks a rise from the 1.6% recorded in February 2026. While food inflation saw a decrease to 0.7% in March from 1.1% in February, the non-food group's inflation climbed significantly to 3.8% in March from 1.9% the previous month. A notable change was observed in the transport sector, where inflation surged to 4.9% in March after being negative at -1.7% in February.
