Sri Lanka's Meteorology Department Issues Heat Advisory for Multiple Districts

The Department of Meteorology has issued a heat advisory for several districts across Sri Lanka, warning of high felt temperatures or heat index during daytime hours. The advisory applies to areas including Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, Batticaloa, Ampara, and Monaragala, with some reports also mentioning Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Trincomalee, Polonnaruwa, and the Eastern and North Central Provinces. The heat index is projected to reach levels described as "requiring attention" or "cautionary". The public, particularly the elderly and individuals with pre-existing health conditions, are strongly advised to take necessary precautions against the heat.
