Sri Lanka's Foreign Minister Wijitha Herath's official visit to Belarus extended to include a meeting with Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, Natalya Kochanova. Discussions centered on strengthening parliamentary relations and cooperation, including the potential establishment of parliamentary friendship associations. The visit also produced a roadmap for deeper cooperation across trade, industry, agriculture, tourism, education, and people‑to‑people ties, as discussed with President Lukashenko.

Sri Lanka's Foreign Minister Wijitha Herath's official visit to Belarus has included discussions focused on boosting Gem Trade and Machinery Imports. The MoU on Health Care has been officially signed, aiming to strengthen bilateral collaboration in medical education, healthcare services, and research. Minister Herath also visited the Belarusian State Medical University and met with its rector.

Sri Lanka's Foreign Minister Wijitha Herath met with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on May 14th. President Lukashenko highlighted the limited scope of current economic ties and discussed developing a roadmap for expanded cooperation in trade, industry, agriculture, education, and people-to-people relations. The Air Services Agreement and MoUs were officially signed following bilateral discussions, confirming previously expected agreements. The Sri Lankan delegation included Ambassador-designate Shobini Gunasekera and Director General Sugeeshwara Gunaratna.
