Sri Lanka's Food Security Committee Convenes to Prepare for El Niño Impacts

The Food Policy and Security Committee convened yesterday afternoon at the Presidential Secretariat to strategize on mitigating the potential impacts of the impending global El Niño phenomenon on Sri Lanka. The meeting was co-chaired by Minister of Agriculture Lal Kantha and Minister of Trade Wasantha Samarasinghe. Discussions centered on necessary preparedness measures and potential impacts, with a particular focus on the nation's agriculture sector. Heads of relevant ministries and institutions were present to contribute to the planning for national food security.
