Sri Lanka's total exports for the first four months of 2026 reached US$ 5.78 billion, representing a 4.3% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Export Development Board (EDB). In April 2026 alone, total exports amounted to US$ 1.38 billion, a 6% year-on-year growth. Merchandise exports in April saw a 9.87% increase to US$ 1.06 billion, while services exports were estimated at US$ 317.16 million. EDB Chairman Mr. Mangala Wijesinghe cited these figures, noting the growth occurred despite challenging global economic conditions and declining apparel and tea exports.
