Sri Lanka's Export Earnings Surpass US$12 Billion Milestone in 2026

Sri Lanka's total export earnings have surpassed the US$12 billion mark during the first eight months of 2026. The Export Development Board (EDB) reported that earnings reached an estimated US$12.01 billion between January and August. This figure represents a 4.26% increase compared to the US$11.52 billion earned in the corresponding period of 2025. Both merchandise and services exports contributed to this growth, with merchandise exports rising by 3.63% to US$9.41 billion and services exports increasing by 6.59% to US$2.60 billion.
