Sri Lanka's Cabinet to Re-examine E-Visa Contracts with Private Firms

The current Sri Lankan Cabinet has decided to re-examine the legality of agreements made by the previous government to outsource the issuance of electronic visas (e-visas) to private companies. The Attorney General's office informed the Supreme Court of this decision today during the hearing of Fundamental Rights petitions. This review, which involves appointing a subcommittee, aims to scrutinize the legal standing of these contracts. The petitions challenging the original Cabinet decision were filed by former parliamentarians, including M.A. Sumanthiran and Patali Champika Ranawaka.
