Sri Lankan Cricketers Chamika Karunaratne, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, and Nuwan Thushara Face Separate Legal Proceedings

Two prominent Sri Lankan cricketers are currently involved in separate legal matters. The Colombo District Court has directed parties to file written submissions by May 13 in a case concerning cricketer Chamika Karunaratne. Pilot Sewwandi Senadheera has filed a petition seeking a declaration that Karunaratne is the father of her child and an order for a birth certificate naming him as such, with Karunaratne's counsel arguing that his client's consent is essential for a DNA test.

Separately, cricketer Bhanuka Rajapaksa has sent a Letter of Demand (LOD) to actress Harshi Rasanga. This action follows alleged false accusations made against him on social media. The dispute centers on a gold chain valued at over Rs. 900,000, which Rajapaksa claims the actress borrowed and later pawned without his knowledge, with his legal team asserting she acknowledged pawning it in court but later shared a contradictory narrative online.
