Sri Lanka Unveils 'SME Nexus' Framework to Empower Small and Medium Enterprises

Sri Lanka has officially launched the 'SME Nexus' National SME Strategy Framework 2026, an initiative aimed at empowering the nation's Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The framework, unveiled under the patronage of Minister Sunil Handunneththi and Deputy Minister Chathuranga Abeysinghe, seeks to remove structural barriers hindering the sector. This vital sector represents over 75% of registered businesses in Sri Lanka, contributes a significant 52% to the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and provides employment for 45% of the workforce. The strategy aims to bolster these enterprises both domestically and on the global stage.
