Sri Lanka Unveils First National Oxygen Usage Guidelines for Government Hospitals

Sri Lanka has recently introduced its first national guideline series on oxygen usage in government hospitals. The initiative was launched under the patronage of Health and Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa at the NH Collection Hotel in Kollupitiya. Prepared by the Ministry of Health with support from UNICEF, these guidelines aim to standardize oxygen management in patient care and enhance the technical understanding of medical administrators, specialists, and other health professionals. Additional Secretary (Medical Services) Kumara Wickramasinghe led the compilation of these guidelines. Concurrently, a training program has commenced for a team of one hundred health staff, including specialists, to disseminate this knowledge at district and provincial levels across the country.
