Sri Lanka Unveils Comprehensive Dengue Prevention Guidelines for Universities

A comprehensive set of Clinical Management and Standard Guidelines on Dengue Surveillance and Prevention has been officially launched for all universities in Sri Lanka. The initiative, launched today (20th) at the Ministry of Higher Education in Colombo, aims to protect the university community by strengthening early detection, patient management, and disease surveillance. Key objectives also include implementing measures to prevent mosquito breeding within university premises and fostering community support for national dengue control efforts. This development follows recent instances where dengue outbreaks necessitated the temporary closure of several higher education institutions. The guidelines were developed collaboratively by multiple government bodies including the Ministries of Education and Health, the University Grants Commission, and international partners like the World Health Organization.
