Minister of Housing, Construction, and Water Supply Susil Ranasinghe announced that a review of water tariffs will take place on June 30th. This decision comes after a Cabinet resolution on May 19th to refrain from revising water tariffs for the first six months of the year. At the time of the Cabinet decision, it was indicated that current water charges were sufficient to cover the full operational expenses of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board. Minister Ranasinghe made these remarks to the media following a ceremony to present appointment letters to management assistant officers of the board.
