Sri Lanka to Host Fourth BIMSTEC Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting in 2027

Sri Lanka has received approval from the Cabinet of Ministers to host the Fourth Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting and Senior Officials’ Meeting. The significant regional event is slated to occur in Sri Lanka on March 17 and 18, 2027. The proposal was put forth by the Minister of Agriculture, underscoring the importance of agriculture as a primary source of income and livelihood for BIMSTEC member states. The BIMSTEC organization, which includes seven countries bordering the Bay of Bengal, is dedicated to promoting economic cooperation among its members.
