Sri Lanka to Honor Fallen Heroes on May 19th; Families Given Prominence

The 17th National War Heroes Day commemoration ceremony has already commenced at the War Heroes Monument in Battaramulla, presided over by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. In his address, the President emphasized the government's commitment to building a peaceful, developed, and just nation and stated that all war heroes and their parents deserve national honor. The event marks 17 years since the end of the war.

The 17th National War Heroes Day commemoration ceremony is taking place today, May 19th, at the War Heroes Monument in Battaramulla, presided over by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. Official promotions for 5,289 war heroes are being granted today, coinciding with the commemoration. Special security measures and traffic diversions are in effect around the Parliament grounds for the event.

In conjunction with the 17th National War Heroes Day commemoration, 5,289 members of the tri-forces were promoted yesterday. Additionally, family members of war heroes have been given increased opportunities at this year's ceremony.
