Sri Lanka to Continue Fuel QR System Amidst Middle East Conflict and Consumption Concerns

The government of Sri Lanka will maintain its fuel distribution system utilizing QR codes. This decision, confirmed by various officials including Cabinet Spokesperson Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa and Deputy Minister of Finance Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando, is largely attributed to the ongoing Middle East conflict and its impact on global oil prices and supply. The QR system aims to manage and reduce fuel consumption, as demand continues to exceed the country's capacity and to ease pressure on the economy. The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation also stated the program's continuation is necessary to ensure fuel supplies are managed effectively.
