Sri Lanka to Appoint 400 Digital Champions for Public Sector Overhaul

The Sri Lankan government is establishing a 'Public Impact Champions Network' (PIC-NET), a special force of 400 senior public officers, to spearhead digital transformation across state institutions. This initiative, a key component of the Government's Digital Economy Plan, aims to enhance the quality and efficiency of public services through digitalization. These selected officers will act as "Digital Champions," driving optimization efforts across approximately 95 government entities, including ministries and state corporations. An awareness program for coordinating executive officers was recently held at the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) to mark the first step in this modernization drive.
