Sri Lanka Swelters Under High Temperatures, Health Warnings Issued

Several districts across Sri Lanka are experiencing significantly high temperatures, prompting health advisories. The Meteorological Department has reported maximum temperatures reaching up to 39.9°C in Trincomalee, with other areas like Polonnaruwa, Vavuniya, Monaragala, and Mullaitivu also recording temperatures above 37°C. Authorities have issued warnings for eight to ten districts, including Trincomalee, Ampara, Batticaloa, Polonnaruwa, Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi, Monaragala, and Jaffna, advising residents to take precautions against heat-related health issues. This period of intense heat is expected to persist for several days.
