Sri Lanka Secures US Market Access for Blue Swimming Crab Exports

Sri Lanka has officially gained approval to export its Blue Swimming Crab to the United States market, following the removal of previous trade barriers. The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), operating under the Department of Commerce, confirmed that Sri Lanka has met the stringent conditions set by the U.S. Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA). NOAA has stated that Sri Lanka's crab harvesting practices and related regulations are "comparable in effectiveness" to American standards. This significant development was announced by Sri Lanka's Ministry of Fisheries, Aquatic Resources and Ocean Resources.
