Sri Lanka Revises Import Rules to Allow Retreaded Aircraft Tires for National Carrier

Sri Lanka has decided to permit the importation of retreaded aircraft tires for Sri Lankan Airlines, a move that revises earlier prohibitions. This exemption, specifically for tires classified under HS Code 4012.13, was requested by the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation to address essential operational and safety requirements. The initial ban on retreaded tires, including those for aircraft, was established under Special Import Licence Regulations No. 01 of 2023. These broader Import and Export (Control) Regulations are being submitted for Parliament's concurrence.
