The highest numbers of infections are reported from districts including Colombo, Gampaha, Matara, Galle, Ratnapura, and Kalutara, with the Western Province accounting for approximately 50% of all cases. Health officials attribute the rising trend to active monsoon conditions and ongoing rains, warning of potential further increases. The NDCU advises the public to seek immediate medical attention if a fever persists for over two days and to use only Paracetamol until consulting a doctor.

Sri Lanka has recorded 33,572 dengue cases and 19 deaths so far in 2026, according to health authorities. Community Health Specialist Dr. Thushani Dabrera reported that 8,321 dengue cases were identified in May alone. The Western Province accounts for 50% of the total cases, with Colombo, Gampaha, and Kurunegala districts reporting the highest numbers. Authorities have identified 72 high-risk Medical Officer of Health (MOH) divisions across the country.

Sri Lanka has recorded 32,071 dengue cases and 17 deaths so far in 2026, as of May 27. Among the deceased are two young children, aged nine and two and a half years. In response to the prevailing rainy weather, the National Dengue Control Unit has announced a three-day special mosquito control program scheduled for June 8, 9, and 10 in high-risk dengue areas.
